Senior Geotechnical Engineer

This individual is responsible for overseeing and performing design on a variety of Geotechnical projects.  This individual should have over 10 years of geotechnical design experience.

This individual should display a positive attitude and be a self motivated individual.  Effective communication skills are required, since this individual is responsible for managing multiple design teams on a variety of projects.

This individual will be responsible for mentoring / training his junior engineering staff in geotechnical design.  The individual will also need to delegate responsibilities throughout his project team to ensure that the utmost quality has been performed on each project.

This individual will be responsible for the profitability of his / her design team.  He / she will be responsible for keeping the projects on time and under budget.  This individual will also be responsible for creating proposals and managing project schedules for the design team.

EGS recommends that this individual be an outspoken member of the engineering community, with strong involvement in at least one engineering organization in the area.  Preference will be given to a candidate who has served (or is serving) as an officer in a local organization.

The candidate should have very sound technical skills in the field of geotechnical engineering.

General skills that all Senior Geotechnical Engineer candidates should possess include:

  • Geotechnical Investigation techniques
  • Drilling procedures / drilling techniques
  • Laboratory techniques / Laboratory test procedures
  • Soil classification techniques
  • General geotechnical design principles

Senior Geotechnical Engineer candidates interested in leading Structural / Foundation Design Teams should have extensive experience in the following design principles:

  • Shallow Foundation Design
  • Deep Foundation Design
  • Pile Design
  • Soil-Structure Interaction
  • Slope Stability Analysis

Senior Geotechnical Engineer candidates interested in leading Roadway / Stormwater Design Teams should have extensive experience in the following design principles:

  • Stormwater Design
  • Groundwater Mounding
  • Hydraulics
  • Geosynthetic Design
  • Roadway Design

Senior Geotechnical Engineer candidates interested in leading Karst Design Teams should have extensive experience in the following design principles:

  • Sink hole Remediation

Interested candidates should possess a Bachelor of Science degree in Civil Engineering, and a valid Professional Engineers License in the state of Florida.  Candidates must be very detail oriented individuals who produce the highest quality work in the business.  He / she must have extensive experience in client relations and project management.  Candidates must also display a strong understanding of report writing skills and review procedures.

Geotechnical Engineering Intern – Geotechnical Engineer I

This individual is responsible for performing design on a variety of Geotechnical projects.  This individual should have a strong interest in pursuing a career in geotechnical engineering and design.  This is an entry level position to this department.

Student Intern

This individual is responsible for performing a variety of geotechnical and environmental laboratory tests, field tests, and general office tasks.  This is an entry level position.

This individual should display a positive attitude and be a self motivated individual.  Effective communication skills are required, since this individual is responsible learning all of the geotechnical procedures that EGS performs.

The candidate should be interested in learning the following geotechnical skills in the following laboratory procedures:

    Geotechnical Laboratory Procedures:

    • Atterberg Limits
    • Grain Size Analysis
    • Hydrometer Analysis
    • Soil Classification
    • Moisture Contents
    • Specific Gravity
    • Density Determination (Standard and Modified Proctors)
    • L.B.R.
    • C.B.R.
    • Soil Cement

    Concrete Laboratory Procedures:

    • Concrete Cylinder Compressive Strength

    Asphalt Laboratory Procedures:

    • Bituminous Evaluation
    • Specific Gravity
    • Asphalt Content

Interested candidates should possess a high school diploma and currently be enrolled in an engineering program at an ABET accredited College.  Candidates must be very detail oriented individuals who are interested in producing the highest quality work in the business.  Preference will be given to individuals who display a high G.P.A. and who are currently involved in a student engineering organization (ASCE, FES, EWB, etc.).
